Do you believe in a two party system of government for South Dakota? If the answer is "yes" please site examples of where and how the Democrats and Republicans should/could work together for the best interest of this state?

I think that South Dakota would be better situated to deal with common ground issues if we would stop focusing on partisan issues and look at what is best for South Dakota. I've gotten along with every legislator that I've met from either side of the aisle and I will be able to work with all of them to pass common sense legislation.

Thanks for the question, Dorothy. Yes, I do believe in a two party system. This last legislative session made me wonder if we had that. I think a variety of perspectives is always enriching and even within my own party, that exists. In a democracy, I think it's crucial that we have diversity of opinion and that we listen to each. I also think it's important that we have a balance in our government between Democrats and Republicans. I advocate for gender balance as well. This year, we have the chance to send men and women with diverse opinions and backgrounds to Pierre and that can only serve our state in good ways.
